Questions before you trust an app with your records are a good thing.
Here is what TaxPilot is designed to do, what depends on integrations, and where the boundaries are.
What is TaxPilot?
TaxPilot is a record-management and tax-preparation workspace designed for Australian working life. It brings income, expenses, receipts, statements, invoices, trips, documents, GST/BAS preparation and review into one place.
Who is TaxPilot for?
The product is being designed for people whose finances are more complicated than a single payslip: sole traders, gig and delivery drivers, contractors, small businesses, people with side income, property-related records and users who want cleaner records before working with an adviser.
Can I use it as an Uber or delivery driver?
Yes, drivers are a major TaxPilot use case. The app includes trip and kilometre workflows. Where a supported provider integration has the necessary production access, TaxPilot is intended to sync available trip and earnings data so users do not have to recreate every trip manually.
Can TaxPilot connect to my bank?
TaxPilot has a connected-bank workflow. Availability depends on the banking/data provider and production access. Consent is handled through the connected provider, and access can be revoked.
What happens to data I already imported if I revoke a bank connection?
Revoking a connection is designed to stop future updates. Records you already imported into TaxPilot can remain in the workspace so your historical record does not disappear.
Can I send invoices?
The invoicing workflow is designed to create and send invoices, receive supplier invoices, track status and due dates, and support recurring invoice schedules. Email delivery requires the production email service to be configured.
Does TaxPilot scan receipts?
The receipt workflow is designed to capture a receipt, extract useful fields for review and keep the original document linked to the related record. Extraction should always be reviewed before relying on it.
Can I import PDF bank statements?
TaxPilot’s import workflow is designed for CSV and PDF statements, with review before imported transactions become part of the workspace. Large files may be processed in pages/batches rather than loaded entirely into memory.
What is the Vault?
The Vault is TaxPilot’s document workspace for receipts, statements, invoices, bills, contracts, vehicle/property files, tax documents and reports. Smart folders and search are intended to make supporting evidence easier to find later.
What does the Calendar do?
The Calendar shows financial activity by day. It can surface income, expenses, receipts and other records for a selected date, making it easier to reconstruct what happened without scrolling through an entire year.
How do notifications work?
TaxPilot has a notification centre for meaningful events such as sign-ins, invoice changes, banking/sync events and tax/GST review reminders. Push/email delivery can depend on the user’s settings and the production services configured.
Can I back up my records?
Yes. The product includes export-backup and restore-backup workflows so a user can keep a copy of their TaxPilot workspace and restore a compatible backup if needed.
Does TaxPilot lodge BAS with the ATO?
The current product can organise records and prepare BAS draft information for review. Direct ATO lodgement or payment should only be represented as available after TaxPilot has the required ATO DSP/API production access and any necessary service arrangements.
Does TaxPilot lodge tax returns?
Not directly in this preview. TaxPilot is being developed to organise records and make tax preparation easier. Any future lodgement service must operate through the required registered tax-agent/service arrangements.
Is TaxPilot an ATO product?
No. TaxPilot is independent and is not an Australian Taxation Office product.
Is the tax estimate tax advice?
No. In-app estimates are record-based calculations for review and planning. Tax outcomes depend on current law and your individual circumstances.
